The fishing huts

Text Bent Ek

The salmon fishery alone was worth about as much as the largest farms in the village.

Many of the farms along the Drammenselva River also had their own fishing arches, and in Dynge near Hokksund there were a number of such arches that were used to store nets and gear.

Few of these arches are preserved today.

The Nedre Hoen fishing lodge is located on the west side of the river and has been preserved, partly with furnishings, as it was when it was in use until the early 1970s. Today, it is quite unique in its kind and represents a type of cultural heritage that there are hardly any left, and this one has high conservation value.

On the east side of the river are the fishing lodges belonging to Ullern, Kruke and Hobbelstad Salmon Fishing.

Here was Hans Hansen, Hokksund base for Ullern, Kruke and Hobbelstad salmon fishing in the 1960s and 1970s.
